We support local governments

We provide capacity building to local governments to increase administrative efficiency, improve their internal functioning and implement decentralisation policies. This also involves working on accountability, (women) participation and inclusive governance, in order to build democratic local governments that can provide quality basic services to people.

We bring local governments together

Though ALGAPL can play an important role in supporting local governments, we shouldn’t loose sight of the fact that Puntland’s local governments have a lot to teach each other. In the end, they are the real experts in local governance in Puntland! To bring this expertise forward, ALGAPL brings together local governments from across Puntland and provides a forum for them to exchange and learn from each other.

We defend the interest of local government

Local governments don’t operate in a vacuum, and rely heavily on the framework provided by national governments to guide their actions. As the association of local governments, ALGAPL can speak at regional and national levels in a strong and united voice to defend the interests of local governments and its people.
