Today, one day important meeting was held in Gardo District to validate the Local Economic Development Policy for Puntland Local Governments 2026–2030.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of ALGAPL, Mr. Abdulkadir Geedi, who delivered the opening remarks on behalf of ALGAPL.The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairperson of ALGAPL, Mr. Ahmed Abshir and the Executive Director of ALGAPL, Mohamed Abdi Xalwad.
Participants included the Deputy Mayor of Bosaso District, the Mayors of Carmo, Waaciye, and Qardho districts. The welcoming remarks were delivered by the Mayor of Qardho District, Abdi Said Qaal. The meeting was also attended by VNGI and the Directors General of key line Ministries. they had good discussions and interaction.
The Chairperson of ALGAPL expressed appreciation to VNG International and the experts who contributed to the development of this policy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening decentralization, particularly in the economic aspects of districts, in order to accelerate service delivery and economic growth.
Finally, the Chairperson expressed hope that once the policy is approved by the relevant Puntland government councils, it will bring significant improvements to the economy and natural production of Puntland districts.
