Capacity Building Training for LED Forum Committees in Garowe and Qardho Districts
From May 30 to June 4, a six-day capacity building training was conducted for the Local Economic Development (LED) forum committees of Garowe and Qardho districts. The training was held over three days in Garowe and three days in Qardho, and was organized to strengthen the capacities of LED forum members in key thematic areas crucial for effective local economic development.
The training covered several important topics, including:
Introduction to Project Cycle Management (PCM): An overview of the PCM process and its integration into LED strategies, with in-depth discussions on its relevance and application.
Ecosystem Approach in Semi-Urban LED: Understanding the interconnectedness of local ecosystems and how they support sustainable development.
Value Chain and Value Chain Development: An introduction to the value chain concept, tracing the journey from product development to the end consumer, and strategies for enhancing local value chains.
Pilot Project Idea Generation and introduction to the SDLG Grant Manual.
The training was delivered by Job Van der Poal, an expert from The Hague Academy for Local Governance, and was facilitated by VNG International (VNGI).
The event concluded successfully, with participation of VNG Somalia representatives, ALGAPL staff and Joppe, the SDLG Project Manager at VNGI.
