On May 13th, 2025, An online workshop was held for the ALGAPL Secretariat, focusing on the topic of advocacy and lobbying by Local Government Associations (LGAs). The session covered the fundamental concepts of lobbying and advocacy, as well as the key steps involved in developing an effective advocacy approach.
During the workshop, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the core functions of LGAs and the importance of lobbying and advocacy in advancing their mandates. The training also explored essential tools and methods that LGAs can utilize to strengthen their advocacy efforts.
Additionally, the participants identified priority policy issues for lobbying and advocacy, discussed how to develop concrete policy positions.
The workshop was facilitated by an experienced expert from VNG International (VNGI) in the Netherlands.
